Rotating window or Can you trust your brain?

A visitor standing close to the window, clearly sees that it is rotating. But when looking from a distance of, say, 5 meters, most people consider it to be swinging forth and back or even backwards. This is a very spectacular and popular exhibit, which help the visitor understand how the brain works.

The exhibit consists of a board , where we have changed the perspective, partly by making it trapezoidal , partly by painting it to give it a 3-dimensional look. It is suspended in a metal bar from the ceiling, where a little motor keeps it slowly (3 rev's/min) continuously rotating.
