This fascinating exhibit shows a phenomenon that is hard to see in nature: standing wawes. Normally a wave is moving in one direction, but here we create a wave that is moving in the opposite direction from the chain. 

The visitor grabs the chain and sets it in rotation in either direction. 

The standing wave appears for so long time as the chain and wheel is rotating.
